| Remington is a blue headed pionus parrot. He is a beautiful bird and my out-of-focus, badly-colored photos don't do him justice. Remington is proof of what most animal rescuers innately know, - that most animals given up are not bad, just unwanted. Remington's previous owners said he was mean and attacked their children. Since Sue adopted him, I've been around him many times and have never seen an aggressive action out of him, though he is a bit protective about his cage, but most parrots are as most dogs are protective of their property. Remington's more endearing trait was a bit confusing to me when I first met him. He was sitting on the back of Sue's divan and kept dropping his head down until his beak just touched the couch back and was frozen in that position. I saw him repeat this a couple of times and thought he was having a seizure or something. I called to Sue in the other room and asked what the heck was wrong with him. She told me he simply wanted his neck rubbed! It was so adorable I almost cried and I thought to myself, "Ah, so this is the child-eating parrot! Very vicious indeed!" |
