| Richard Manning is Pine Lakes' very own Rodeo Cowboy! As a young lad, Richard was unathletic. At age 15, he discovered karate and later earned his brown belt in kenpo. In the rodeo arena, Richard tried bareback bronco riding, but prefered the bull riding competitions. He also has a background in construction. | Thelma and Roger Robison led a special New Year's Day Hike on the trails near Granite Basin Lake. Twenty-eight hikers participated, and the day turned out to be a lovely, sunny one. | The Hiking Club year-end celebration began with an urban walk, followed by a potluck luncheon at the Clubhouse. Some members had prepared their special recipes of chili for the event. Charles and Crystal Wical were toasted for having celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and a special cake was served for the occasion. | |||||||||||||||||

| Ducks on Ice! On January 2, our flock of mallards decided to walk, rather than fly, to the end of our frozen lake where Bill & Shirley feed them every day at 4:00 pm. They look a little bit like the movie, The March of the Penguins. |
