The Hubcats
" The premier acoustic duo in the Burlington
Vermont area"
THE HUBCATS Are Stewart Foster and Fred Brauer
Stewart’s musical background goes back nearly 25 years
and consists of playing in garage bands, rock and roll bands
and acoustic duos and trios. Early influences have been
James Taylor, Jim Croce, Jonathan Edwards and others.
While those influences are still noticeable in his style, influences
that have played a bigger role in more recent years are
artists such as Lyle Lovett and David Wilcox. Stewart truly
enjoys entertaining others through music.
Fred’s musical career began in high school almost
30 years ago and developed in college when he had the
opportunity to tour on a bluegrass circuit in West Virginia
and Virginia where he was fortunate enough to be able to play
on the same stage as Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs.
He came to Vermont in 1979 and has played in
many local bands. He has played in Bluegrass, Country, Top 40
Rock and Roll cover bands, acoustic duos, trios and
single acts for 20 years. He also still prefers the acoustic
sound .
Early in 1999 Fred and Stewart began getting together
and sharing songs and stories of their musical past.
It was immediately evident that the two shared similar musical
tastes and had developed styles that blend well together.
A musical partnership was in the making. They continued to
rehearse, purchased sound equipment and chose their name....
THE HUBCATS!! The blend of acoustic guitar, mandolin
and vocal harmonies combined with a "left of center" song list
make them an act with truly unique appeal..
THE HUBCATS are available for weddings, Restaurants
,
Coffee houses and small clubs.
