Mazeroski in the Hall Of Fame

Bill Mazeroski, Pittsburgh second baseman known for the most compelling homeruns in baseball and for his glove has been voted in to the Hall Of Fame by the veterans commitee today.  Also Negro Leaguer Hilton Smith, who played for the New Orleans Black Creoles, Monroe Monarchs, and Kansas City Monarchs was voted in.  He was known for his curveball and a no-hitter against the Chicago American Giants in 1937.  He is believed to have never lost.  These two will join Kirby Puckett and Dave Winfield in January for induction.

Will Albert Belle be able to play baseball again for the Baltimore Orioles?

Belle again delayed his long-awaited spring training debut Monday, declaring himself unable to play in an exhibition game on the road against the New York Mets.  He has missed all four of the Orioles' spring training games because of an arthritic right hip that threatens to end his career.  Shortly before the Orioles boarded a bus to Port St. Lucie, Belle told manager Mike Hargrove that his ailing hip had not healed enough to allow him to play right field.  Their morning chat has become a daily ritual, and Hargrove has yet to hear the three words he's been waiting for: ``I can play.''  ``It's no different than yesterday. The hip was no better,'' Hargrove said. ``He'll try to play tomorrow.''
