ABC Preschool was established in 1981 in San Francisco. The school has been serving Japanese American Children for 20 years. Many of the children who have passed through our program have grown to become active and productive adults in societies around the world. The school program endeavors to continue to encourage this strong sense of responsibility and understanding.
ABC Preschool celebrates monthly Bicultural events. Beginning with the month of September Grandparents Day (Keiro No Hi); October Sports Day (Undo Kai); November Thanksgiving Day; December Christmas Day; January New Year’s Day (Oshogatsu); February Beginning of Spring (Setsubun); March Girl’s Day (Ohinamatsuri); April Easter; May Children’s Day (Kodomo No Hi).
Our students enjoy Bicultural learning through these monthly events.

Ayako Hanaoka
Director
Mrs. Hanaoka has been involved in Early Childhood Education since 1965. She has been a Teachers Aide for a Community College Parent class and a Japanese Language teacher at Clarendon Elementary School.
Mrs. Hanaoka is currently the Director of ABC Preschool and a teacher.

Kumiko Inui
Head Teacher
Mrs.Inui was an elementary school teacher in Kobe City, Japan and an exchange teacher in Sacramento. She is the author of a book titled “Japan at a Glance” published by Kodansha in Japan and is also the author of 2 other books. Her goal is to introduce Japanese Culture to children.
Parents and children prepare a hot lunch together each month which consists of Japanese and American foods.
