China Government Reaffirms PHS Not Considered Mobile Phone Service

BEIJING -(Dow Jones)- China's telecommunications regulator has reaffirmed that the limited-mobility phone service of China Telecom Group and China Netcom Group is considered a fixed-line phone service and not a true mobile phone service.

China Unicom announces start their CDMA 1X service from March 28, 2003 in Beijing. The news said CDMA 1X is better than GPRS, and China Unicom did not find the Chinese SPs but direct signed a agreement with SK telecom to be its SP. And this time China Unicom named their CDMA 1X service as “U-MAX”. and now they pride 5 new service: Internet content, support email to any email box and support 5000 Chinese language characters, download software, palm broadband, and search service.

NetEase.com Announces Change in Board Seat

Translation

1. This week I finished the left 8 translations works of total 20, so now I already finished all of that, and I already send them to Suzanne.

General Knowledge Test

This week I tried the general knowledge test, before I attend the test, I am so exciting because I am really confidence I know many things, but after the test, I am a little disappointed. Here are my comments.

1. I did a bad test, the mainly reason is I should choose 14 parts I don’t want to test, but I thought it is choosing 14 parts that I am good in, so I choose wrong.

2. This test content is really not fit Chinese.

3. For now, we need input the answer, but even I know the answer, for example a artist, but I don’t know how to write his English name. And in the future, even translate into Chinese, it is also a problem how to check the answer is right or not.

4. For most the content is related Europe, not many about China, so that will give most Chinese a problem, we also have been learning world history and other things, but not that deep.

5. I think even some question, the answer is wrong, there are two questions related China, but I am sure the answer is wrong.

6. For most Chinese, we think general knowledge means the knowledge we should know, and it is useful for us, but I find some questions some like IQ question, not useful for us. Example, how oils, silo, soil related to each other? How come this question is a general question?

7. So if we need make a general knowledge for Chinese market, we need more change.

I register in baidu for our company, since if you want to have their service you have to register first before you pay.

Checking SPs

This week I continue checking the SPs list, since I still have other tasks to do, so I can’t only do this, and also because the list only with the company name, no their website link, so I need seach their link, that is why this work is not that fast. Until now I already finish around 200, just some we can send email to ask.

For the SPs, there are three kinds, one is like SINA, SOHU, and they are big player. One is a company with the SMS number for their product, like Computer Company and some TV companies. And another is middle level player that provide SMS service, I think this is what we are looking for.

So Sir, please remember to check the letter. So I can do it in Chinese after your checking.

Other

1. Check the support emails, and this week I send over 10 emails (include reply the oldest emails)

2. Discuss with Suzanne about change the picture of Chinese version.

3. Check the page of Suzanne finished, and give her my comments and with some corrected words.

4. Find some problem in the payment of Chinese version, because some translation I never check and even some haven’t translate, so I will discuss it with Suzanne next week as soon as we can.
