Some thing about “Little Smart”

1). Little Smart, technically named PHS (personal handy phone system), has been talking its way into China Mobile and China Unicom's markets in many provinces and is now eyeing metropolises like Beijing

2). Looking exactly the same of a mobile phone, the PHS handy phone provides almost the same functions as its cellular counterpart. Based on the fixed-line telecom network, PHS uses different transmission technology than mobile telecom. Provided by fixed-line carriers, PHS has become a strong rival to mobile phones
3). The major difference between PHS and mobile phones lies in the charge standards, with PHS charging much less, but offering lower transmission quality and no roaming services outside a limited range

4). MII's(Ministry of Information Industry) attitude to PHS is vague. On the one hand, it is worried that PHS may hurt the mobile carriers, on the other, it is worried that fixed-line carriers lack the attraction of new services

5). The most important new revenue source for China's fixed-line carriers, PHS is attracting many customers who initially planned to buy mobile phones

6). With its major advantage in call prices - about 0.10 yuan (1 US cent) per minute, with only the calling party paying versus mobile phone's 0.40 yuan (5 US cents) per minute with both parties paying - people tend to ignore Little Smart's obvious flaw in voice transmission quality

7). Without the prospect of there being no new mobile telecom licenses in the near term, fixed-line telecom carriers are betting their futures on PHS, hoping Little Smart can increase their average revenue per user (ARPU)

.8). The three PHS vendors, US-based UTStarcom and Lucent and China's ZTE (Zhongxing Telecom) have all signed contracts with the fixed-line carriers

9). By the end of 2002, there are total 12 million little smart subscribers in China.

MY Comments on IQ TEST

1). For China mainland, the major problem is clearly, because almost no body can pay. In China, not many people have credit card, for example like me, among my friends, parents and relatives, I just know one has credit card, he is my friend brother, and he worked in bank. because in China is hard to apply a credit card, the banks are so strict.so we have to look for other payment method.

2). In China, there are many kinds of bank card avaliable for pay online, just no more credit cards, and those bank card is just for China banks, no international banks.
3). I think our aim users mostly should be youth, like 16-30, no many older ages, and maybe many of them are students. Because now in China the youth competition so sharp, every body want to be better than others, that is why the English class and other training subject are very hot.

4). Students don't have much money, but they are the group easy to buy those things that they are interesting, in China, we often say two group people are easy to be earn from, one is women, because if you can make your product attract the women, that means you will earn more from the men. Another group is students, because now every Chinese family just have one child, what they want, their parents will give, so even they don't have income, but they are not lack allowance.

5). Still the mobile pay-sms pay is a better method for now in China, I think, since already many students had mobile phones

.6). Now already some overseas bought our test, and the tech problem is more than 1%, so if in China, I hope we can make it better, because Chinese people not much trust pay online, if tech problem happen, that will attack their pay-confidence.
7). If we need find some affiliation or traffic deals in Hong Kong or other overseas?

IDEA OF HOW TO SMS PAYMENTS

I think here are two ways to use SMS payments.

One is direct contact with China Mobile and China Unicom. So we can sign a agreements, they we get a special number like “ 1234” or “7788”, just example, then when the users want to buy the ticket, they just send a order to “1234”, so they will get a ticket number, and the fee will show on his Mobile phone bill. And every month, China mobile will know how much on “1234”, and follow the agreements, we need share 15% to them.

For this way, I need search more information.

Another way is find a partner like SINA, so we need not contact with China Mobile, since SINA already had the agreement with China Mobile. And do what like we did with yahoo. For this way, we can get more users because SINA have many users, and we also share more to SINA I think.

Affiliation and traffic deals

1). Find a affiliation but not for Chinese, it is like CJ. http://www.asiatraffic.com/

2). Find a website may possible be our traffic deal, but still need write to ask.

   This website is: http://www.51test.net/

IT is a special website provide any kinds of test and exam for Chinese, like English Test, TOFEL prictise, College entrance exams, GRE, ACCOUNTING, Microsoft,etc..and related many news, and also provide online book download and some games. It said it is the NO 1 test website in China
