| Since I would like to graduate before Summer semester 2003 I am going to take a pretty heavy load of classes. These are the classes I am signed up for this Fall (2002) and their catalog descriptions. I may drop 1 of them but I am not sure yet. MATH 3220 Foundations of Analysis II (3) Prerequisite: MATH 3210. Fulfills Quant Reason(Math & Stat/Log) & Quant Intensive BS. Advanced multivariable calculus. Topics include continuity, compactness, differentiability and affine approximations, chain rule, Taylor series, extremization, error estimation, inverse and implicit function theorems, Fubini's Theorem, introduction to differential forms and the general Stoke's Theorem, applications to the study of curves and surfaces. MATH 4400 Introduction to Number Theory (3) Prerequisite MATH 2250 or MATH 2270. Fulfills Quantitative Reasoning (Math & Stat/Logic). An overview of algebraic number theory, covering factorizations of primes, modular arithmetic, quadratic residues, continued fractions, quadratic forms, and diophantine equations. MATH 5030 Actuarial Mathematics (3) Prerequisite: MATH 5010. Fulfills Quantitative Reasoning (Math & Stat/Logic). Basic Introduction to actuarial mathematics. Prepares students for the actuarial exam. MATH 5310 Introduction to Modern Algebra I (3) Prerequisite: MATH 2250 or 2270 and MATH 3210 or 2900. Fulfills Quantitative Reasoning (MAth & Stat/Logic). An introduction to groups, rings, and fields. MATH 5470 Applied Dynamical Systems (3) Fulfills Quantitative Reasoning (Math & Stat/Logic). Introduction to chaotic motions, strange attractors, fractal geometry. Models from fluid dynamics and mechanical and electrical oscillators. PRT 3310 Leisure Behaviour and Human Diversity (3) Fulfills Diversity. Investigation of human diversity in the context of leisure behaviour. |
