by Patrick E. Chapter 3 Alos stood before the council again that day, but this time Shierra was on his side. He was here to ask about the use of a captive human in their patrol. He was fairly sure that they would let him because they all held more faith in him than in hate for humans, plus his rival who supported him the least was in favor of it. What is it that you want now, general, The elf king asked impassively. I would like to make a request. A request that I am sure is a wise idea, Alos started carefully choosing his words. Just ask! Shierra yelled from her seat at the table. Alos gave her a cold look before continuing, I would like to request the use of a human in my war party. I ask that you, the council, will allow me this? he asked quickly. The council looked at each other smiling and then at their king who was also beaming. Alos was surprised at their reaction and not a little curious at what they meant. Of course you can use the human, The king said with good cheer. For some reason it sounded as if this was the reason they told him to take a look at the human in the first place. Shierra, on the other hand, did not seem too happy by the decision but went along with it anyway. It was because the council had already decided to allow him to use the human and was practically telling him to ask by showing him the human and his weapons. What is it in the human that you see so valuable good king? Alos asked still curious of why they so readily liked the human. Well that human has been trained by an ancient elven guardian, The elf king began. He was sent to us along with his brother from that guardian who left us more than a thousand years ago. Plus he killed five elves single handedly when they ambushed him about a half mile to the north, one of the other council members put in. Yes, that too, the king added with a look of thought. That human is a very powerful warrior, could even rival your skills. Just remember that he is your responsibility from here on out, the king finished with a finality that said he was dismissed. Thank you good sir, Alos said with short bow and turned to leave with Shierra following. About an hour later Alos was leaving the city for home with a beat up looking human at his side. The mans face was drawn and weary with a look of hope now that he was out of the dungeon and on his way to finding his brother and killing dark elves, the race he hates above all. For being shackled up for a few days he walked surprisingly quickly and easily that sign of weakness or sores. In all, Alos was surprised at how easily it went and that the man was in such good condition. When they reached his tower Loren was standing in wait for her dear friend to return. It was not often that elves slept and Loren had not slept in nearly three decades, so to awake and find Alos missing was quite a shock at first. Colin, his manservant, was quick to explain though and that had settled her. She felt that he should have told her about the meeting before they had shared the night together. You bring a human to your home, what is the occasion? the golden haired ranger asked when Alos and Pacys came up to them. She was not surprised or disgusted at the sight of the human, for she had seen and met many in her travels to not react the same as her kin do. She was surprised to see Alos with a human, for she would have thought that humans would have been to much on his pride to be seen as an equal with a simple human. //This is not the End of Chapter three.
