| "What is Lock and Load," one might ask...Well, I must wonder where you've been. Lock and Load started last summer as pet-project for me. I ripped off graphics and sounds, and made them work. I made the Doom Marine into a god with such weapons as the Pulse Rifle and Barret M82. In other words, this is a weapons mod, up there with Espi's Guns PC and Cory Whittle's Immoral Conduct. As a matter of fact, Immoral Conduct was one of the inspirations for Lock and Load. Lock and Load used the EDGE sourceport version 1.24, but since upgrading my computer and popping in a Radeon, the latter versions have been very compliant, so Lock and Load is now up to it's fourth inception - which uses EDGE 1.28. Originally, Lock and Load had around 21 - 22 weapons (around there) and was a tad inarticulate. It really had no direction, as the weapons came from EVERY part of the 20th century save the Great War (World War I for those that don't like History class a whole lot). Eventually, Lock and Load changed it's focus from just weapons I liked to weapons that I liked, but at least belonged together on some level or another. That philosophy has also changed; Now Lock and Load has aimed at sort of being a counter to Immoral Conduct - not because I'm trying ot compete with Cory, but because I feel that urban weapons suit Doom about as much as futuristic weapons suit Medal of (dis)Honor. So, the majority of the weapons are at least futuristic, although I try to limit energy weapons as much as possible. They're generally a bore to use. |
