What I thought
Crais and Talyn, staying with Moya during her illness, manage to locate a doctor of a healing species for Moya. And Rygel, in one of few acts of selflessness, says that anything will be done to heal Moya, much to the surprise of Zhaan.
Meanwhile, Scorpius's neural clone is driving John insane. He keeps seeing Scorpius everywhere, but not only that, is beginning to think like him as well. He's gradually losing control, but the doctor could help that and possibly remove the chip.
Bringing the doctor and his assistant, a Grunshlik, on board, the price quoted seems quite steep. However, the doctor's assistant manages to "persuade" them into laying down the cash.
D'Argo though is offering to get the doctor to fix Jo'thee's Tenkas as well, resulting in another little row. Jo'thee cut off his own Tenkas, resenting being a half-Luxan.
In the meantime, John is messing around with some comms. He tells Aeryn that he is eavesdropping on Crais and Talyn, still not trusting them. However, Aeryn suspects the chip at work, but they end up having a heart-to-heart moment. Just as they're telling each other they love each other, John's chip kicks in and knocks Aeryn out.
Aboard Talyn, Crais is discussing with the ship of getting Aeryn to join them, talking also about a secret. However, they overhear a signal coming from Moya. It's a Peacekeeper signal. The crew suspect John and the chip. Jo'thee confronts John but gets knocked out, before D'Argo knocks John out.
Taking a transport pod down to the planet where the doctor works, Stark and Crais allow the doctor a look at John's brain using some equipment that seems to instantly remove the top of John's skull (and put it back as quickly). In the cleanliness of the surgery, the doctor is also able to take off his mask. Outside, taking off his mask would kill him because of the contaminents. However, the doctor seems to say there's nothing he can do.
Back on Moya, the healing of Moya begins as a gas is sprayed through the affected areas which will numb her. Chiana and D'Argo get into a little fight though, and Chiana storms off.
Back on the planet, Aeryn is back and her and John are looking around the doctor's place where he stores bodies. The plan is to put John's brain into another host, and find a near-match, someone possibly from Earth. Zhaan says though that it is an abomination having the frozen bodies (still technically alive). John though accepts the treatment, knowing that if it doesn't work his body is taken.
Chiana goes to see Jo'thee and Pilot, and has a talk about the future. D'Argo plans to buy a farm with his share, but Jo'thee isn't to keen on the idea. A drugged up Pilot though lets Chiana into a secret, that D'Argo plans to propose to Chiana.
Rygel, in the meantime, is discussing plans with the Grunshlik. He plans to use his share of the money to buy a new ship, as Moya may not be ready to do a great deal for some time.
In the medical bay though, John, under restraint, is talking with Zhaan. He tells her that he is stopping the chip taking control, but knows he probably won't survive. He asks Zhaan to join in unity with him, to absorb his thoughts and try and get them to Earth. As Zhaan does so though, she finds that John is no longer John, but the chip is in control, and is quickly overpowered.
On Talyn though, Crais is discussing plans with Aeryn, just as John is making his escape aboard the Farscape 1 module. Aeryn chases in her Prowler.
Above the planet, John tries to signal Scorpius as Crais tries to scramble the signal and Aeryn pursues. John dives down into the planet atmosphere though, where he has the edge, seeing as though John was trained to fly in atmosphere, under gravity. Managing to shake Aeryn, the two have a brief chat and the chip apears to concede, and proceeds to land.
On top of Aeryn's Prowler.
Aeryn ejects as the Prowler crashes and explodes, but the straps on her ejector seat have been jammed by Farscape 1's landing gear. She cannot get out.
John manages to get control of his body back, but is unable to save Aeryn as her ejector seat weakens some ice, and takes her through into the cold water.
Unable to get out, and weighted down by the chair, Aeryn drowns in the water.
At the doctor's facility, Aeryn's funeral is a sombre affair. Even Rygel offers some of his riches in her memory, whilst it seems that a restrained John is about to commit suicide, but instead cuts off some of Aeryn's hair to remember her by.
The doctor begins treatment on John, in an attempt to remove the chip, but John cannot help blaming himself for Aeryn's death. However, John has to help the doctor with the operation.
Crais and Talyn though are talking about what secret they had to share with Aeryn. A message chip that would have made her the happiest person around. Zhaan, though, wishes to stay with Moya and Pilot, to care for them, and Stark asks to join her.
Grunshlik is getting the ship Rygel asked for as the operation on John continues, as Chiana and Jo'thee are getting a bit too close for comfort. The doctor though manages to find out which bit of the brain to cut though, just as the Peacekeepers enter the facility seemingly undetected. The operation continues, but the chip cannot be removed without removing John's speech. So the doctor will try and replace it.
With the chip removed, John cannot say a damn thing properly until a replacement of his speech is made. Meanwhile, the Peacekeepers find Grunshlik.
Scorpius though makes a reappearance, this time in the flesh, revealing that the doctor was the one to install his cooling apparatus. He does away with the doctor though, and takes the chip that has been removed. However, he doesn't kill John, but leaves him to live, so that the need for revenge will consume him. Now Scorpius has the wormhole technology he's waited for, he leaves.
Scorpius wins.
As the neural clone said at the start, it's the end of the old, and the beginning of the new. We had it all here - an amazing plot, more freaky goings-on, a cool-looking new alien in the form of the doctor, and top action in the chase between John and Aeryn. We had tragedy in the form of Aeryn's death, and when it seemed like Scorpius wouldn't get the wormhole technology, he did. An amazing cliffhanger, probably better in some ways than the one that ended series 1. What will happen in the next series? Will Aeryn somehow come back to life? Will John get his speech back? Will Rygel get his new ship and use it to help the others, or go off on his own? Who will Chiana choose? Will Crais and Talyn stay? What was on Crais's message chip? And, probably most importantly, will Scorpius begin to use the wormhole technology? Overall, 5 out of 5.
