| Introduction ITVV is a UK based flight deck video producer and their videos have been filmed in 10 airlines, Martinair, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific, Inter European, Airtours International, go, UK Leisure, British Midlands, Debonair and of course British Airways. Airtours International Airtours International was first formed in 1991 owning just 5 aircraft. Now they have a total of 27 in their fleet consisting of B757, B767, DC-10, A330, A320 and A321, all flying to worldwide holiday resorts. Airtours is the first airline to have in its A330 "downstairs toilet" which would leave a lot more space and comfort for passengers. Because the A330 is designed for long haul flights it is mainly used for destinations such as to Florida or The Caribbean. Flight 029 Manchester-Orlando Sanford This video starts with a briefing from Captain Julian Bond at the check-in area at Manchester who describes this flight as "ETOPs" a rule that all twin-engine aircraft have to follow for crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Then we join him for a routine walk-around. Now because Manchester is a major international airport flight 029 was delayed and so missed their scheduled take off slot, so now they would have to wait for the next available slot. After 10 minutes we receive permission from ATC for push and start. Once reaching our takeoff position on runway 24R we are cleared for take off. A special feature used here is that the take off is filmed with 5 cameras, one on the Captain, one on the First officer, one from the side of the runway, one on the throttle and one on the cockpit window. Once airborne Captain Bond gives a brief explanation on each device in the cockpit and a look at the routing, also we hear our f/o get our oceanic clearance from Shanwick. Then because during a cruise at FL370 there is hardly much to do for the pilots Captain Bond tells us that he got into flying by joining the armed forces and then moving to airliners (that gets quite boring but is also interesting for people wanting to know how to start a career in aviation). Afterwards we start our descent to Orlando Sanford during the decent we encouter traffic problem and viewers can see when the TCAS system come into play then our landing is filmed in the same way as the take off with 5 cameras. Conclusion This video is great! The ATC is clearly heard and gives Just Planes Flight in the cockpit videos a real competition. This is a must for all aviation enthusiasts. Overall I gave this video 93%. |
