| Between Shalford and Chilworth a variant on the type 28 still covers the crossing of stream. This drum-shaped 6 pounder pillbox was built by J Mowlem and is one of many of a similar design in this area. TQ012475 |

| The pillbox has a large loophole for the 6 pounder, one machine gun loophole and a large rear entrance for gun (6ft wide x 4ft high). This shows the gun mounting. This pillbox formed part of the GHQ Line (Berkshire/Hampshire/Surrey/Kent) - West - East section of GHQ Line running from Reading through Hampshire and West Surrey to Kent (Leigh) following in part a line south of the North Downs.(Photos Tim Denton) |
