Beacon Hill Fort, Essex World War 2 Pillboxes and Anti-Invasion Defences.
| Beacon Hill Fort is located on on the south side of Orwell Haven. The The fort dates back to Roman times, however more modern fortifications are the most visible. This shows An EXDO post for sea mine control. It has been built on top of an earlier pillbox although the original rear entrance was blocked and the only access now is down a ladder from a narrow passage at the rear of the EXDO post. TM263326 |
