DISPLAY IDEAS
These are some things I have done around the house to display some of my Pats.  All were extremely economical and easy.
I purchased a 6 ft piece of moulding from Home Depot.  Then I cut it into 2 and 3 ft pieces.  Using a dremmel tool (I don't have a router hanging around), I put a groove on the top of the moulding.  Then I just attached it to the wall using 4 thin nails in each strip.  The pats don't have much weight to them, so I didn't even nail it into studs.  Concerned about pats falling off of it?  Just purchase some fun tac, put a little dot of it on the back of your pat and that should do the trick. Time invested 1 hr.
While on a long weekend in Orchard Park, NY, I visited several antique shops looking for Butter Pats.  There were very few to be found.  I decided to alter my plan and browse for items where I could dispay all of my multiple pieces.  Lo and behold!!  I came across this old Soda Bottle Crate.  I just turned it sideways and it was perfect.  Best part is I paid $12 for it.
This piece was purchased for about $40.  They are available at places like Target.  You could probably purchase one at AC Moore unfinished and paint it any way you like.  This is where I keep my pride and joy.  My favorite looking pieces, not neccessarly the most pricey ones.
These pats are in an old Cream Cheese box (before the world of plastic).  I got this one for about $8, but I have seen them as high as $20.  It's too small to hold anything over 3 1/2 inches, but perfect for square or rectangular ironstone.
This is actually a vent from an attic of an older home.  I've seen them around from time to time.  This one is all wood and I paid $12 for it in an antique shop.  Putting pats in here that you don't mind being handled is good because you cannot see any pattern.  They will never fall out because of the angle of the wood.
This is a childs curio (only about 24" tall). It was my Mom's when she was a kid, and she passed it on to me.  I keep my Restaurant pats in here, and the duplicates in the drawers.
Yup, another cheese box.  If you get lucky you can find them with these dividers in them.  From what I have been told, cheese boxes do not come with shelves.  They must have been put in laterThen stand them up for this type of display.  I purchased this one for $4!!!!!
This was a fantastic find!  It is a letter box from a Post Office in Michigan.  It  has several state labels (on leather strips) still attached.  $45.  I have seen others of these that are larger.  Originally I bought it to lay sideways, as that is how it was used back in the day.  But placing it on it's side is even better because it's a lot easier to find a place to put it.  I plan to paint the outside and stencil some Limoges like flowers on it.  Also line all the shelves with material to protect the pats I'm going to put in it.  I'll post that as soon as it's complete.
