Oil painting has been an important part of my life. As a teenager in the early 1960's I struggled to learn the craft of painting. I could not wait to set up an easel along the bank of the beautiful Susquehanna River in northern Pennsylvania where I lived. Nothing brought greater joy for me as a young man than painting God's handiwork "out of doors". When I was 27 I went to college to learn a little more about this wonderful activity. I acquired a few tricks and met some wonderful people at Mansfield State College (now Mansfield University). Like my fellow students, I had great expectations for life as an artist. I had explored the world of printmaking, fine tuned my drawing skills and absorbed all that I could about art history. But I soon learned that painting would always be just a hobby for me. I developed a nasty tremor in my hands that frustrated me at the drawing table and easel. It did not keep me from painting. Over the years I have painted at least four hundred oils and countless drawings. I no longer use the pencil and pen but I have managed to control a brush reasonably well. I hope that you will enjoy the galleries of paintings that I have prepared for you. Feel free to contact me with any comments or just to say "Hello!" |
