REMEMBER ME (To Remember) Part 1-Ocean She sighed deeply letting the water engulf her feet. The sand felt cool and gentle underneath her. She moved back and sat on the sand. Almost three years had passed and even to this day she couldn't escape. After she took Mariemeia in she left the Preventers, leaving Sally in charge. She worked in a bookshop now. She knew it was hard to believe that she, Colonel Une also known as Fiery Une, was working in a bookshop. No one would believe that she was capable of anything but death and destruction. But she was. She was capable of so much more. It felt good to be surrounded by books instead of death. She liked being surrounded by other people's thoughts and feelings, only then she could finally forget about her own thoughts and feelings. When business was slow she would pick up a fairytale and read how all princes and princesses lived happily ever after. Life was never like that. It was 3 AM and insomnia racked her brain again like every other night. She didn't like sleep; it was as though sleeping brought on the new day. A day in which she would forget another detail. They said it was supposed to get easier with time but they were wrong, it got worse. After he died she remember staying up all night thinking about every word, every touch, every moment the two of them had spent together. But it was all fading. She could forget everything, but that one memory still haunted her. She closed her eyes as the memory swallowed her up like an ocean wave. *~* "Mr. Treize, please don't go. The soldiers need you here. Let me go. It is not safe out there, please your Excellency," Une scrambled trying to convince Treize to stay, "please Mr. Treize, let me go instead." Treize turned to face her and took her hand in his, "Lady I must do this myself. Only I can stop Zechs." "But your Excellency, II," she stumbled trying to find the words she needed. "Lady I must go now. We will talk when I come back." "But your Excellency, I love you," the words slipped out of her mouth. She tilted her head down, looking at the floor in shame. He looked into her chocolate eyes and found the comfort he longed for. But he knew he couldn't rest now. He raised his hand and raised her face telling her there was nothing to be ashamed of. He gently brushed her cheek. "We will talk when I come back, Lady," Treize said as he closed the hatch of the Tall Geese II. -Later- The five-gundam pilots boarded MO II. She smiled hiding the tears that threatened to overflow. "I am forever indebt to you gundam pilots," Une said trying to steady her voice," as is the entire earth's sphere. It seems your pure hearts have brought peace to earth and space, finally. Thank you." Wufei looked up. He needed to tell her. He wished he had half of her strength and integrity. "Ms. Une may I speak to you in private?" Sally looked up. She was glad Wufei was going to tell her. It would give her some comfort. "Yes, follow me," her voice monotone, revealing no emotion. They stepped into the small conference room next door. Two OZ officers followed her. "Ms. Une, it's about Treize," Wufei said trying to find strength to continue. Her heart skipped a beat. Treize. She signaled the two officers to wait outside the door. "Please continue," she said, hoping that her voice wasn't quivering, too much. "Before the Tall Geese II exploded, he lost communication with MO II. I don't know if he was talking to himself, or me, but. But, he said he loved you. He said he loved you with all his heart." She closed her eyes. "Thank you Wufei. Please give my congratulations to the other Gundam pilots for their help. It has been a long day and I am extremely tired. One of the soldiers will show you each your rooms," she said as she exited the room. *~* She ran to the ocean for escape, hoping it would calm her soul. She loved the ocean ever since her childhood. The ocean was so large it was so easy to loose oneself in it. She enjoyed hearing the waves crash upon the earth and feeling sand cling to her toes. It gave her peace and let her mind stop for once. She liked standing in the sand when the wave went out. It tried to take it with her. It made her feel wanted, needed. But the ocean was still not big enough to save her from drowning in his memory. Nothing was. At least people here were forgiving and didn't judge a person on their past mistakes but rather on who and what they were now. Meia loved it. She had started school and had made many friends. Life was simple for her. She wished it were the same for her. She didn't go out much. She had only three or four friends. Emily was the closest of all of them. She worked with her at the bookshop. She was the only one who knew about her insomnia, about Treize. She shuddered remembering his name. She was avoiding it. Pretending it didn't exist because all it brought was sadness. She wished his name would disappear, sink to the bottom of the ocean. She wished she could leave the world and sink to the ocean floor but he wouldn't allow it. And anyways Mariemeia needed her too much. The ocean would have to wait. |
