Your Letter By Chili It was Remy Lebeau s day off from his duties as an X-Man, one of the few he managed to enjoy since becoming co-leader of the team. It seems his carefree days are over; he was a leader now. Which meant new responsibilities. Being there for your team at a moments notice. Every action had an opposite or equal reaction. It meant every decision he made had consequences that could affect the lives and safety of his teammates. Sacrifice, placing others needs before your own. Being aware of your teammates needs and feelings. You have to be observant of your environment and the people around you. Most importantly, it meant he had to grow up. He finally understood why Scott was so uptight and Ororo so tense, running this team took a lot out of a person. It taxed a person, physically, mentally and emotionally. He made a promise that he would be there for her today. Sacrificing his free time for her needs. Which explains why he is standing in front of Ororos door at nine oclock in the morning. * * * * * Ororo Munroe was standing on a stool pulling down boxes from her closet when the knock at the door came. Come in! Its open! She yelled over shoulder. Remy sauntered in, Hey Stormy. Ororo stepped down from the stool with a box in hand, Morning Remy she beamed brilliantly at him. Aint it little late tbe spring cleanin chere? Its June already. he said amused. Wellwith all the troubles we had with the Neo. Spring cleaning was pushed back. Duh Ororo! Remy was there too. She chided herself. Ororo quickly assessed his outward appearance starting with his attire. He was wearing blue jeans, t-shirt and sneakers. Looks like hes ready to work. She thought to herself, but what troubled her the most was Remys physical appearance. He looks tired. She shakes her head. He shouldnt be here helping me with this. Don you tink its a little early in de morning for dis? he joked. Anything before noon was considered too early for him. Remy you do not have to help me with this. She says as she places her box down. It was selfish of me to ask you to help me on your day off. Remy grinned at her, No problem chere, I don mind really. You should mind. She stated. Days off from duty are far and few in between. You should be relaxing and doing what you want to do. Ororo said sympathetically. Remy thought about his options and ran the list through his head. How many times can you work on a perfectly running Harley? What are the chances that I could actually stay in bed and sleep? Ha! Sleep in this mad house?! And there is so much you can do at club that you been to hundreds of times. How pathetic you would seem hanging out at a club at 9:00 am? He didnt want to spend the damn day going over strategic maneuvers and Danger Room schematics with Rogue. Besides he had nothing else to do, might as well spend the day with his very best friend in the world. He didnt mind at all, he enjoyed her company. Every passing day since taking the co-leadership role of the X-Men, he sought her out more often. Not just for advice, but for companionship and understanding. Perhaps he wanted something more than friendship. Listen, if I didnt want tdo dis, den I wouldnt be here. Like it or not you stuck wit me now belle. Ororo let out a small laugh, she knew there was no arguing with him. Alright but in all fairness I should treat you to lunch. Anything your heart desires. Is it a deal? Remy nods his head in agreement, Deal. * * * * * After spending almost two hours separating and sorting clothes. Not that Ororo was a clothes -horse or anything like that. The pair spent most of time talking and having fun rather than cleaning. There was one comment made by Remy about Ororo owning a very provocative teddy and why he never gets to see her wear it. Which in turn earned him a deep blush and swat in the arm from Ororo. Ororo was finishing taping the last of the boxes that were going to be donated to charity. I will go ahead take a couple of these boxes downstairs. And when we are done we can go have lunch. Remy nods, Ill bring de rest down when I finished wit dis one. Ororo turned before leaving, Do not forget the box on the top shelf in the closet. After packing and taping the last box, Remy proceeded to the closet to get the last box of clothes that was sitting in the far corner on the top shelf. Remy reached up to grabbed the box but failed to see the smaller one laying on top of it. The smaller box slid of the larger one and hits the floor spilling its contents. Damn. He muttered as he set the other box down. He kneeled to the ground and proceeded to pick up the dozen of items that were spread across the floor. Some of the items were pictures of the various X-Men. Remy found small a gold charm bracelet. Some beads he had given her from Mardi Gras. Old movie ticket stubs and dried flowers within a book of fairytales. He came across some old letters addressed to her. Remy proceeds to pick up each letter, one by one, never once bothering to read them. His right hand brushes across one that captures his attention immediately. A letter with Remy written across the envelope in Ororos handwriting. He stared at the envelope, curious about its contents. His mind was in conflict, should he read the letter or put back it. Hes conscience was telling him, It was among Ororos personal belongings. OFF LIMITS!!!. The other half was playing devils advocate, Read it. After all it is address to you. The latter won. Remy raised up from his kneeled position and walked form the closet to Ororos bed. He turned the letter over to break the seal and pulled the letter gently from the envelope. He carefully unfolded the pages and began to read Dear Remy, You only left moments ago. I remember the kiss as soft as spring rain you left on my cheek. You said Goodnight Stormy pleasant dreams. You never knew I was awake the entire night. You stopping by my room has become a nightly ritual since you became leader. Something I look forward to every evening since. Tonight you needed to talk about what you gotten yourself into with this leadership role and now the rest of us have to be crazy to follow your lead. Remy you asked me, how can you ever measure up to Scotts or even my standards? My advice, dont. Dont try to be like Scott or me, make it your own command. I told you once before, I trust you and I will follow your lead. After our talk you seemed like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders and you drifted off to sleep. I watched you sleep, thinking about the night when we first met. I quite literally fell into your armsthe problem is I havent stop falling yet. Remy you became my very best friend in a short period of time. I have treasured our friendship and each moment we have spent together. Remy, as always you are too hard on yourself. It pains me deeply to know that you still refuse to see the man that you are. You are a good man with a heart that is full of love and generosity. You have many qualities I adore. Your trademark smirk and enigmatic charm. Your courageous spirit that is only matched by your selflessness. That incredible sense of humor of yours and incorrigible wit that always kept me laughing when all I wanted to do was cry. The hero hidden within the scoundrel, with the devil be damned bravado. Remy you should never be ashamed of your past because it made you into the man you are today. The man I love with all my heart and soul. You always told me that you were not perfect. No one is perfect, but you are perfect Remy. You are my perfect love, my one true love. You came into my life and made everything beautiful and I will love you always. I dont expect you to feel the same, but I had to let you know how I truly felt. Thinking back to that ill-fated night, I told you I didnt need you then.now I cant imagine my life without you. I love you. Ororo Remy couldnt move, he just sat there and stared blankly at her letter. One thought entered his mind, Stormy is in love with me. Fate had finally stepped in, leading him to discover this hidden treasure. I saw a letter lying on the floor I couldnt help but look inside Thought it was something that you mustve left Left there for me to find All your words were on that page All my dreams came true that day I found your letter Remy for one of the few times in his life he was left speechless. He couldnt believe what he had just read, but it was there in black and white. His mind was racing in a hundred different directions at once. His emotions were running rampant from mind-blowing disbelief to confusion, finally inexplicable comprehension. He knew right? Didnt he? Should he have known? Ororo is his best friend. Shouldnt he at least have suspected something? Stumble across some sort of clue to her feelings? We always flirtedbut I never imagined it would lead to anything. Did I? After all this time, she never said a word, not one solitary word. How could Ive been so blind? I guess it just never occurred to me That you would feel the way I did You kept the sweetest secret from my heart You kept those feelings in Though you never showed a sign Give a clue to what Id find Inside your letter He couldnt help but replay her words in his mind, I love you, Your hearts desire He was so consumed with his thoughts he didnt hear her approach. Ororo was standing behind him, softly calling out his name. Remy? He didnt acknowledge her presence. Remy, lunch remember? Ororo was starting to get worried. I dont think he even heard me. She continued walking until she stood right in front of him. She become aware of the paper he was holding. Could that be whats troubling him? Concerned etched into her face. She ever so gently placed a hand on Remys shoulder to jostle him from his thoughts. Remy. He broke from his reverie and stared into her cerulean blue eyes. He finally saw the love that lies within their depths. The love he often ignored. The kind of love he always dreamed of, but believed it to be unattainable. The love now that was now impossible to deny. Your hearts desire Was his dream about to come true? I was so happy that I almost cried To think that you would think of me that way Its like you took my sweetest dream And made that dream come true I would be with you always Ororos words sent his heart flying and touched his soul deeply. They brought him to a level of joy he thought unfeasible. It's was like waking up with the answer to a puzzle that you've been trying to solve all your life, and not knowing where the answer came from. His heart already knew the answer to the puzzle, he was in love with her. Remy rose quickly from his position on the bed and began kissing Ororo. The kiss started off gentle but grew into one with such an uninhibited passion promising to leave her weak-kneed. I saw a name I didnt recognize I felt the tears come to my eyes Seeing that the love that youve been longing for Was not a love of mine No, you never showed a sign But it was right there in the lines Inside your letter When the kiss was complete, he held her tightly in his arms. Remy pulled away from Ororo slightly to catch her response. She was flushed and he believed she would have fainted if wasnt there holding on to her. Ororo was surprised to say the least by the abrupt kiss. Her heart was beating so fast she felt like it was going to explode and she had difficulty finding her breath. She stumbled over the words I just wantedwanted to know about lunch She paused, Some kiss. She stated breathlessly. Remy couldnt help but smile at her bewildered expression, I bet dey don have dat on de menu. Ororo smiled a little, I guess they dont. She gazed into his red on black eyes Where is this coming from? Remy smiled, raising his hand gently, he caressed the side of her face. Your letter. He stated casually. She looked at him questionably, What letter? Realization hit her with the force of a truck as she caught the meaning of his words. Goddess! The one that I the paper he wasoh no. Ororo ran her hand through her head in embarrassment, You were never meant to see that letter. You were never supposed to know... It was private. Remy placed his fingers softly over her lips to silence her protest. Shh Im glad dat I did. He sighed, Earlier you told me I could have anyting my hearts desirewell, my heart desires you. Remy lowered his voice to a soft whisper, I love you, Stormy. He declared before he kissed her softly on the lips. Your letter It said you loved him But you didnt know the words to say It said you never knew that you could ever feel this way It said you only wish someday that he would feel the same In your letter Your letter I saw a letter lying on the floor The End (Or just the beginning?)
