The Golden Arrow Part Five *Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. I've been really busy what with marching band and starting school and all. Once things get into a routine, the rest of this story should come soon. Lady Une and Treize walked into the dusty law office of Johan Selzek. "Can I help you?" A frail looking man sitting behind a scarred desk asked. "Mr. Selzek, I presume?" Treize asked. "Yes, how may I help you?" Lady Une stepped in, "Did you know a man called Vinoin Une?" "Vinion ... Vinion. Oh yes! I consulted him on the matter of a stolen artifact that came into his possession." Mr. Selzek looked a little flustered. Lady Une and Treize glanced at each other, remembering what the thug had said about a golden arrow. "Vinion Une is my father," Lady Une said. "Oh really? You don't look like him. Well, well. How is the old gentleman?" Selzek asked. "Not so well, sir. He's uh..." "Deceased," Treize cut in. Johan Selzek looked at him sharply, "Do you know how he died?" "He's been murdered," Lady Une said quietly. "Oh dear! I knew the golden arrow would be nothing but trouble," Selzek muttered to himself. "Golden arrow?" Treize and Une said in unison. "Oh no, now I've done it! I wasn't supposed to tell anyone about the golden arrow!" Selzek looked distraught. "Mr. Selzek, I am the only heir to Vinion Une's empire. Any last things he did and said are my right to now!" Lady Une slammed her hand down on the old desk. "The Golden Arrow was a very rare artifact that Vinion found on his last trip to Ireland. It was used by Celtic people as a symbol of truth and justice. He who places the Golden Arrow on the scared altar, legend says, will see his future." They listened in silence. "So Vinion came into possession of the arrow through undisclosed sources, and placed the arrow on the altar. When the arrow was placed on the altar, blood poured from the temple, and Vinion saw a vision of a dead man lying in the road. "He came to me, since I know a trifle about such things." "So the trip to London? What did that have to do with the Golden Arrow?" Lady Une asked. "Patience, Miss Une. When Vinion came to me about his vision, I told him he must be on a lookout for those who want the Golden Arrow. An artifact like that could bring millions at auction." "The person that killed my father must have been after the Golden Arrow!" Une said. "As far as I know, that would be the case." "A pair of thugs attacked me and demanded to know where the Golden Arrow was." Anne looked over her shoulder anxiously. "Then you must remain on constant lookout. The person who murdered your father will stop at nothing to kill you as well." Selzek looked worried. "She was on her way to see Duke Dermail," Treize said. "Do you know where he lives?" Treize brought their original purpose into the discussion. "I'd be happy to escort you there myself. But you must be *very* careful. If the wrong person gets a hold on the Golden Arrow, its' power will be gone forever." |
