The Golden Arrow
Yet another AU fic by Blue Rose

*This is part four of the Golden Arrow, and stuff is finally starting to
happen (^_^). Seriously, I would like to thank everyone for their feedback on
this story, when I first started this story, I did not think it would be so
popular! Thank you everyone who gave me feedback for making this fic happen!

Treize watched her leave silently. He hadn't meant to make her angry. He
only wanted to see a friend at a neighboring estate, and ended up staying two
days extra. Of course, he had meant to take her to London, just not right
away. He meant to get to know her better first. Something in her eyes told
him that he could not let her get away.

Lady Une hurriedly made her way through the streets of London. She had to
find Duke Dermail, and find out why her father had been so desperate to see
him. She was now on her way to another of her father's associates, Johan
Selzek, a Dutch lawyer. She was hoping Mr. Selzek knew how to get in touch
with Duke Dermail. Just as she reached the law office, she felt two rough
pairs of hands grab her from behind.
"What the..." She struggled against their iron grip.
"Where's the golden arrow?" A gruff voice asked.
"The...what?" She asked.
"Don't play dumb with me, Miss Une. I'll say it again," he pushed her up
against a cold brick wall. "Where is the-" but he was cut short.
"Let her go," Treize Khushrenada stood in the alleyway, loaded pistol in
hand.
"What the hell?" The men roughly dropped her to the ground and ran away.
Treize offered her his hand, and she willingly took it.
"What are *you* doing here?" She asked coldly. "I thought I made myself
perfectly clear."
"Seeing as how you're not going to thank me..." He began
"Oh. Right. Thank you very much for saving me, Duke Khushrenada." Lady
Une's voice was very monotone, proving she was not at all thankful.
"That's better."
She stood shivering in the cold, dark alley. Lady Une resented his
company, but was also very grateful that he was there.
"Lady, let me accompany you. After all, there's obviously someone looking
for you or your father, and we're already here."
"Don't talk to me like I'm some sniveling woman that needs protection!"
She snarled.
"I didn't mean that," he said gently. "I just mean that I want to help
you find out about your father's murder. I always looked up to Vinion Une."
The last part was a lie, of course, but he had to make her believe she wasn't
weak. He wanted to protect her, for some reason unknown even to himself.
"If you want to, you can come." Lady Une said reluctantly. Inside, she
was glad that he was coming, she needed some protection from whoever it was
that wanted her dead.
