Peak Lenin on Your Own

-To the Base Camp-
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
How we did it:
We took a taxi from the old bus station in Osh, 5 minutes walking from Hotel Alay. We paid 120 US$ and it was a 10 hours drive. This price is considered low, expect around 150 US$. We stayed at the upper base camp called Onion Meadow, at the far end of the meadow. Independent climbers were charged 5US$ per tent, per night. Bring small notes. Friendly and English-speaking staff.

Other Information:
There are three different base camps, Onion Meadow at 3800 meters, the two others at 3600 m. One of the others, The International Camp, had wooden huts for rent. Bread is sold in the area and a dinner will set you back around 8 US$. You can send luggage up to Camp 1 at 4300 m for a price of US$1/kg. This is negotiable.
