-Getting Permits-
Visa
We needed a Visa for Kyrgyzstan. If entering from Tashkent a Visa for Uzbekistan is also needed. You get the Visa from the embassies in your country. If they are not represented, the Visas can be issued by the Russian Embassy or they will direct you where to get it. If you fly via Moscow, you need a transfer Visa for Russia between the airports in Moscow. We did not have transfer Visa and we were not asked for it.
Climbing Permit
We got the Climbing Permit from Mr Shamiev at Irkeshtam Tour, located south of the entrance to the stadium in Osh. The agency is marked in the book "Central Asia" from Lonely Planet. The Permit is checked at the basecamp. The permit was issued instantly. Price: US$100.
Border Permit
We needed a Border Permit. It was issued by Mundus Tour, a few minutes walking distance from Irkeshtam Tour. The permit was checked at a military post before the basecamp. Price US$25. Can take 1-2 weeks, we paid US$50 for "express service" and got it in one day.
OVIR office
Remember to register within 3 days after arrival at the OVIR office (close to Irkeshtam and Mundus Tour agencies and the address is in the Central Asia book.
