Ready to show off your stuff? First, pick out some music. Have your coach choreograph a routine to it. Practice, practice, practice.
When you're ready, sign up for a competition. The level that you compete at is the highest freeskate test you have passed. You can also skate one level above it if you want.
On the day of the competition, make sure you look nice for the judges as you show off your wonderful skating ability. Wear a pretty skating dress and new tights. Polish your skates and put in new laces the night before. Wear your hair up so it doesn't get in your face while you skate. Some make-up might be a good idea.
Make sure you get to the rink very early. As in, way before the time you are suppposed to compete. Turn in your music and any forms. Then, find your coach and get consoltation/warm up.
Get your skates on 15 minutes before your warm-up time. You will usually have 3 to 5 minutes to warm up on-ice before you compete. Make sure you have a water bottle to control your hyperventilating!!
Keep warm while you wait for your turn to skate. Keep your sweatshirt and gloves on until the person before you starts skating. Make sure to take your guards off before you get on the ice!!
Take some deep breaths as you stroke to your spot. As you strike your opening pose, focus in. When the music starts, focus on just running through the program exactly as you have before. No negative thoughts allowed. If you fall down, or mess up, just get up, keep a smile on your face, and keep going.
When you're done, get off the ice and hug your coach. You can go hang out until the results are posted. Just remember, the results don't matter. Just try to focus on having fun and doing your best.
Now, if you don't want to do a competition, then sign up to partcipate in a show. Have fun!!
