SPICED PEARS

2 Buerre Bosc Pears (the brown ones)
Cinnamon stick
12 Cloves
Four stars of Star Anise
Cup of brown sugar

Tie the spices in a muslin bag and put all ingredients into water, covering the pears.
Boil until the liquid is reduced and beginning to thicken.
Chill and serve with custard and clotted cream.
