A poet has a very special job, that is to try and get a message or idea across to the reader, or to share an experience which they thought meaningful. More than that, the poet wants the reader to feel the same way they felt about an experience. In short, they want to put the reader more in touch with their feelings and to experience the world more fully.

Poetry, though as simple as it may look, has many forms and can be very complex. The type of poetry, in turn, leads to the choice of poetic devices that the poet can use to help the reader see a situation.
