Training
Young Birds:
When the squeakers are taken away from their parents at 24 days, altrough their bodies are completely covered with only small body-feathers, the wing flights and tail feathers are only half grown and it takes a further two or three weeks for these to attain their full lenght. After this start training.
What do we mean by " training " In the case of young birds we mean , Firstly getting them used to the basket , secondly teaching them to come out of it , thirdly teaching them that they have to go home and lastly teaching them and straight and therefore the shortest way home. Begin 20 days before the first young bird race with all the youngsters used to the basket.
