| The Moult | |||||||
| The body of the racing pigeon is like that of other birds, it is covered and protected by thousnds of small feathers and large feathers on the wings and tail. These larger feathers enable the bird to ride on the air , to rise and fall to turn and twist , and to brake or accelerate at will. The moult is actually taking place during the greater part of the year. In nine months out of the twelve , the adult pigeon is always in the process of replacing two or more feathers. |
