I made an album of covers for my parents for Christmas this year.
Out of the songs that I thought would be interesting to cover, I narrowed the list to these because of their vocal melodies (which my dad always looks for in music).
You can hear some samples (low quality unfortunately, because of my low bandwidth... come back in an hour if it's down).
Note that the names in brackets aren't necessarily the artists that wrote the songs originally, but those who inspired my covers.
Track list:
01 Don't Worry About The Government [talking heads]
02 Ashes To Ashes [david bowie]
03 Hold On To Your Ego [beach boys]
04 Grand Canyon [magnetic fields]
05 Black And Brown Blues [silver jews]
06 I Heard It Through The Grapevine [marvin gaye]
07 I Ain't Got Nobody [bessie smith]
08 The Gash [flaming lips]
09 I Won't Be Home No More [hank williams]
10 Some Things Last A Long Time [daniel johnston]
11 How Deep Is Your Love? [bee gees]
Extra vocals on track 11 by Curtis Grahauer and Erich Gerl
Recorded and mixed by me except tracks 6 and 11 by Karaoke DJ Dave "The Beaver" Brooks
This album's not for sale, but I'll trade you for your own music, or a cheescake, or a big smoothie if it's summer. Email me if this sounds good to you.
