| Henk Bos 1901-1979 He was born in Huizen, Holland, son of the village cobbler. At age eleven Bos was apprenticed as a plaster's assistant in order to help support his family but all his free time from that age was spent in museums studing and leaning from the Old Masters. Bos's struggle to exist as a painter lasted over thirty-five years. The World of Bos is one repose. It is also a rich delight to the senses, with its luxuriant extures of pewter, old walls, parchment and lavishly glazed and modeled fruits that glow from lustrous canvases. All of his works are still-life. They are painted with the objects from everyday life and instilled with light and beauty by his expertise. |
