Vehicle  Pedestrian Exits During a Power-Out Situation
Residents please note that the walkways are marked with EXIT signs to direct you to your path of egress.
The pedestrian EXIT gates to McLeod Road are marked with illuminated EXIT signs.  These gates will work in a power-out situation.
Residents and visitors are directed to take the shortest path of exit to McLeod Road in the case of an emergency / fire.
Residents and visitors must obey directives from Body Corporate members, emergency service and authorised personnel in the case of an emergency.
Each unit has an EMERGENCY LIGHT fitted to the ceiling outside their unit, this light can be used to orient yourself.  These will operate in the case of a power-out/ fire situation.
In the case of an emergency where an ambulance / fire service / police have been called to Pier 9, the emergency key may be obtained to open the sliding gate to permit continued access.
There is a large number of the building '117' to assist emergency services to locate this building.
The fire brigade has a locked access box located near the ceiling outside the Waste Management Room, this will provide access to the building.
Residents are directed to take note of the location of fire extinguishers and hoses in relation to their unit.
FIRE DOOR INSPECTIONS
It is a legal building Essential Services requirement that all unit doors are inspected annually and are working correctly.  The entry doors to each unit are fire rated doors and have a rating plate on the inside edge of the door.  The doors are fitted with automatic closer mechanisms.  Residents are advised not to change or tamper with their unit door.The Owners Corporation will advise owners anually that they should arrange an inspection of the unit fire doors, and will supply the details of a contractor should you have any concerns. Unit owners are advised that failure to comply with this procedure may affect the building / contents insurance policies.
INTERNAL FITTINGS
Unit owners are instructed to advise the Owners Corporation if the materials used as fittings to their unit may alter the buildings? flame resistance.  Changes such as carpet replacement, flooring changes, curtains, must be notified to the Owners Corporation.  Unit owners are advised that failure to comply with this procedure may affect the building / contents insurance policies.
EXIT GATE KEY (8) ?
EMERGENCY POWER-OUT PROCEDURE as at 1/3/2005
The Owners Corporation has obtained a special key to operate the VEHICLE EXIT during power-out situations.  It is available from some on-site Committee members or from the Body Corporate Manager.  This means that both entry and exit vehicle gates have procedures for use during a power-out situation.
Instructions for use:
The arms of the EXIT VEHICLE gate have a red and a green screw on the top of each pneumatic arm.  Directly underneath these screws, there is a slot for this Allen key.  Insert the key and give it a few turns.  This will allow the arm to release and the gate can be swung open manually.  Repeat this procedure for the other arm.  Reverse procedure when the power returns.

During a power-out situation, the sliding vehicle entry gate will be used for both vehicle exit and entry to Pier 9.  The sliding gate has a lockable handle that enables the gate to be opened manually in the case of a power-out situation.  The Key to this switch is to be used by authorised personnel only ? listed below.  Please take due caution when exiting via the entry gate.
Pedestrian access is via the pedestrian gates marked with a lit 'EXIT'; sign, these gates have a battery back-up and will function via the push button during a power-out situation.  Swipe cards will not work for entry via pedestrian gates.
