PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY COUNCIL
  The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) is a Toronto-based non-profit umbrella organization composed of; Filipino-Canadian provincial, regional, professional, cultural, and social organizations. PIDC is mainly tasked with the celebration of the Philippine independence day with activities such as the gala, picnic and flag-raising. Its purpose is to promote the Filipino tradition, heritage and culture as well as foster unity and better understanding of the different cultures in Canada.
  It started as a committee whose chair was elected annually by representatives of various Filipino-Canadian associations.To ensure smooth transition and provide continuity in its activities, PIDC was incorporated as non-profit organization in late 1997 in time for the 1998 Centennial celebration.
Vision
  A truly united Filipino-Canadian community that can command the respect and interest of mainstream institutions, corporate sponsors and even political parties as Filipinos celebrate its independence day, culture, arts and heritage.
Mandate
1. To promote further unity within the Filipino-Canadian community.
2. To showcase the Philippines arts, culture, history and heritage to the mainstream
     society and to tourists through an annual Mabuhay! Philippines Festivals.
3. To promote greater involvement in mainstream activities including
     representation and presence in the Canada Day celebration.
4. To improve communication and interaction with other Asian-Canadian
    organizations.
5. To promote among the member-associations a more active participation as well
     as  broader representation in PIDC.
