Janine Newfield, Violinist, arrested Sunday evening, 9-10-00 for playing violin on
St. George St.  She was wearing period clothing and not accepting tips at the time.

Doug Welch, the first artist arrested under the new ordinance, was again arrested 9-10-00
for carving and hand-painting wooden figures of Santa Claus on St. George St.

Les Garcia, hair-wrapper, arrested 3-27-00 on St. George St.  Although the arresting officer
stated he was being arrested for failure to sign the citation, Garcia said he was trying to sign it
and had pen in hand when he was stopped from writing and handcuffed.  It is still unclear whether accused persons are required to sign these citations under Florida law.

Jeff Masin, One-man-band, repeatedly arrested under the previous bans,

which were ruled unconstitutional, has been arrested and cited multiple times on charges of violating the new ordinances.  After his instruments were confiscated by police, Masin performed in silent protest as the "Silver Cowboy" on St. George St. and was again arrested.  While his case is pending he has been performing in other venues including New York City.
