Thoughts on the Kuwanger

by Pickleloaf, as seen on GameWinners.com

Any reasonably good Mega Man fan must surely know that Kuwanger means cockroach in Japanese, or does it?. They (Capcom USA) can translate chameleon and mandrill, but not cockroach. Some people say that this discrepancy is intentional, I for one, think Boomer Cockroach sounds fine.

Thing is, my Japanese friend says Kuwanger sounds nothing like cockroach(he says that the only close word he can think of is the Japanese word for kangaroo) .

Also, the other day, I stumbled upon something saying:

The kawanga is both a tool and a weapon. It is a length of rope with a grappling hook at one end and a weight at the other. It can be used for climbing or as a weapon, by swinging the hook or the weight at the opponent...This type of weapon popular with ninjas since it has several uses and is easily concealed.

Ninjas are those who practise Ninjutsu, the art of invisibility. Forget ninja stars and nunchucks - the ninja is all about STEALTH and trickery.

Boomer Kuwangers teleporting is pretty stealthy and tricky, dont you think? And those boomerangs are kinda like hooks, and that return to you (like a hook on a rope), and they can grab stuff, making them both a weapon and a tool.

:-/ I dunno
