MEGA MAN 4 (NES)

Weapons

Flash Stopper: – Bright Man

Causes the screen to flash white, freezing all enemies for 6 seconds (except for those that are immune). While enemies are frozen, Mega Man can still fire is Mega Buster, though he cannot charge up. Touching a frozen enemy still damages you.

Rain Flush: – Toad Man

Mega Man throws a capsule straight up. Moments after throwing, the capsule’s rocket booster will fire, causing it to shoot upwards out of the screen. Two seconds after firing, the capsule will explode and cover the screen in a shower of damaging rain for 1 second. (Note that the capsule itself cannot hit anything.)

Drill Bomb: – Drill Man

Fires a spinning rocket-powered drill that explodes upon hitting a solid object (including walls). Unlike many of Mega Man’s other explosive weapons, a Drill bomb will still explode if it hits an enemy. Pressing Fire will a Drill Bomb is on the screen will cause it to detonate early (which means that only 1 can be on the screen at once).

Pharaoh Shot: – Pharaoh Man

Mega Man throws a sphere straight forwards. Pressing up/down while firing will cause Mega Man to throw the sphere at an elevation/depression of 45°.

Charging up this weapon will cause a sphere to form over Mega Man’s and grow larger. Releasing Fire will cause Mega Man to throw the sphere (still from his hand). A Level 1 shot requires the sphere to be at least 50% formed; a Level 2 shot requires the sphere to be fully formed. If the button is released before the sphere is 50% formed, Mega Man fires nothing (using no energy, although he does use energy to throw a sphere to moment you push down the button). Charged shots are larger and will travel through enemies that can be killed in 1 hit.

Mega Man can also hit enemies with the sphere forming over his head as though it were a normal shot (which means it can disappear, bounce off invulnerable enemies, etc). Due to it’s slow rate of fire, there can only be a maximum of 3 spheres on the screen at once.

Ring Boomerang: – Ring Man

Fires a fast ring that quickly returns to Mega Man. Unlike Mega Man’s previous boomerang weapons (except for Rolling Cutter), a Ring Boomerang will actually return to Mega Man (it is capable of moving in 8 directions to do so).

Dust Crusher: – Dust Man

Fires a square piece of the junk that you find inside vacuum cleaners. If this damages an enemy, it will split into 4 smaller pieces that travel in 4 different directions, like an X shape. Only 1 firing of this weapon can be on the screen at once.

Dive Missile: – Dive Man

Fires a homing missile, that will seek out vulnerable targets (eg, it will not seek out dormant Mets). This missile can only make so tight a turn, so it’s possible to have one orbit a tiny Met-sized enemy. Only 1 can be on the screen at once.

Skull Barrier:  – Skull Man

Creates a shield made of pulsating blue skull-shaped energy. The shield will disappear if it an enemy or an enemy shot (it cannot destroy energy-based shots), or when Mega Man enters a new screen. (Like most of Mega Man’s shields, the skulls spin anti-clockwise.)

Items

Whenever Rush is called for, he will teleport away after 6 seconds if he is not used.

Rush Coil:

Mega Man starts off with this item. If Mega Man jumps on the back of Rush, he will be propelled upwards by a springboard. Rush will teleport away after one jump. This item only uses energy when the springboard is used.

Rush Marine: – Drill Man

This item can only be deployed in water. Rush becomes a submarine that Mega Man can drive. Rush can shoot Mega Buster shots out of his mouth, though he cannot charge up. This item uses energy while being piloted by Mega Man.

Rush Jet: – Toad Man

Rush forms a jetboard that Mega Man can stand on. Once Mega Man steps on to the jetboard, it will start to move forwards. While riding the jetboard, Mega Man can make slight adjustments to its height by pressing the Up and Down arrows. However, he cannot move left or right while standing jetboard. Rush Jet only uses energy when it is moving.

Wire Adapter: –

On Dive Man’s stage, after the second sperm whale robot, fall into the pit, but watch out for the spikes. Picking up this item will cause you to teleport to another part of the stage.

Hold down Up and press Fire to make Mega Man shoot a grappling hook straight upwards (Mega Man will look upwards while the Up arrow is held down). If the hook latches on to a solid piece of map terrain, Mega Man will quickly retract the wire and pull himself up until he reaches the ceiling. While hanging on to the grappling hook, Mega Man cannot turn around. Once he has pulled himself up, he can fire his Mega Buster, though he cannot charge up. Press Jump or the Down arrow to disengage the hook.

Balloon Adapter: –

On Pharaoh Man’s stage, jump over the first pit and continue right. Picking up this item will cause you to teleport to another part of the stage.

Creates slowly rising platforms that last for around 4 seconds. When Mega Man jumps onto a platform, his weight will cause it to slightly sink down (and flatten the balloon).  Up to three can be on the screen at once. This item only uses energy when created. It cannot be created in a solid object (eg, a wall).
