MEGA MAN 2 (NES)

Weapons

Unless otherwise stated, all of Mega Man’s special weapons will go through enemies that can be killed by a single hit.

Atomic Fire: – Heat Man

       Level 1:

       Level 2:

Shoots fireballs that fly straight forwards. This weapon can be charged up to create large fireballs by holding down the fire button. Up to 2 can be on the screen at once.

Air Shooter:   – Air Man

Shoots 3 small whirlwinds that spread and fly upwards.

Leaf Shield: – Wood Man

Four razor-sharp leaves orbit Mega Man, damaging enemies that come near. When a direction arrow is pressed on the control pad, the Leaf Shield is hurled in one of 4 directions. If you somehow manage to enter a new screen without pressing a movement key, the shield will disappear.

(Useless note: the leaves spin in an anti-clockwise direction, but they become horizontally mirrored if Mega Man throws them towards the right of the screen.)

Bubble Lead: – Bubble Man

Throws a very heavy bubble that quickly lands and rolls along the ground. Up to 2 can be on the screen at once.

Quick Boomerang:  – Quick Man

This fires small boomerangs that fly in a small oval pattern. Hold down Fire for rapid fire. These boomerangs disappear after they have flown a full circuit and returned to their original position. Because of this, there can only be 3 boomerangs on the screen at once.

Time Stopper: – Flash Man

While activated, this causes the screen to sparkle, freezing all enemies, although some are immune to this effect. However, once turned on, the Time Stopper will continue using energy until depleted. It can not be turned off before it runs out of energy. Unfortunately, Mega Man cannot fire while using the Time Stopper.

Metal Blade: – Metal Man

Throws a circular metal blade that flies in a straight line. These can be aimed in one of 8 directions by holding down the appropriate direction button while pressing Fire.

Crash Bomber: – Crash Man

Fires a Crash Bomb straight forwards. If it strikes a solid non-enemy object (such as a wall), it will latch on to it and detonate in a large explosion after about 3 seconds. If it hits an enemy, it deals damage immediately but does not make a large explosion. Can be used to break down certain walls. There can only be 1 Crash Bomb on the screen at once.

Items

Mega Man can jump on these items, which can transport him to otherwise inaccessible areas. These items are obtained by defeating a certain Robot Master, in addition to a new weapon.

Item 1: – Heat Man

Creates slowly rising platforms that last for a limited time. After approximately 4 seconds, it will start flashing and disappear 1 second later. Up to three can be on the screen at once. This item only uses energy when created. It cannot be created in a solid object (eg, a wall).

Item 2: – Air Man

Creates a hovering jet sled. You have about 2 seconds to jump on it before it starts moving forwards. The jet sled constantly drains energy only while it is moving on the screen.

Item 3:: – Flash Man

Mega Man throws this device, which bounces along the ground until it hits a wall. It will then climb up the wall until is runs out of energy. If it reaches the top of the wall, it will flash for a moment, then disappear. If you jump off this item before it reaches the top of a wall, it will reverse its direction and climb downwards. This item slowly uses energy as long as it is on the screen.
