are you a faceless hero?

there STILL are heroes in this generation...

You are our machinery*
*speech delivered to USC campaign volunteers

Governor Cuomo tells of a story of a little town in Italy. After it was attacked by German guerilla forces in 1944, a statue of Jesus was shattered to pieces. The priest asked the townsmen to rebuild the statue, and only after a few hours, the task was almost done. However, the townsmen were not able to find the hands of Jesus. When they went to the priest, he asked them to remain calm, and he told them, Do you not realize? All of you are His hands.

You, every one of you who came and are helping, you are the hands that will realize this crusade. What we have at hand can no longer be called just a campaign; it is not just a two-week exercise of our right to vote. The movement we now participate in already is bigger than all of us. Yes, it is enormous, gigantic even, but we will fight the way young David fought gruesome Goliath.

This coming USC election, the students are given the option to vote either for a political party that bastardizes the true meaning of being a Leftist or one that chooses to yield to fraternity politics of manipulation and intimidation. We firmly believe that the students deserve better options. We are steadfast in saying that the coming elections must yield not only capable, but principled leaders, leaders who will not be defined by affiliations, leaders who will not cower to the pressures of certain interest groups not representative of the general studentry.

As students who would want to see good governance unhampered by baggage that may affect leadership that puts students welfare at the backseat, we offer ourselves. As independent candidates, we promise primary accountability to God and to the students, not to parties and affiliations.

Although we realize that by our individual selves we already are forces, we recognize the fact that individual forces are inadequate to implement projects and reforms, to realize change. This is the reason why we unite and we pool our resources. We unite guided by a common vision and a common goal to provide principled leadership that will provide service responsive to the students needs.

The crusade we will embark on is not going to be easy. But we believe that as we fight the good fight, other students will be inspired as well. We have complete faith and hope that as we show passion to our cause and vision, students will respond with an answering passion as well. #
