SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS |
a.k.a. Santa Claus Defeats The Aliens |
USA (1964), dir.: Nicholas Webster |
Synopsis In order to cure the children of Mars, a bunch of Martians kidnap Santa Claus. But luckily for the two Earth children who got caught in the action, Saint Nick ho-ho-hoo's all the troubles away... |
Cast John Call..................Santa Claus Leonard Hicks...........Kimar Vincent Beck.............Voldar Bill McCutcheon........Dropo Victor Stiles..............Billy Donna Conforti..........Betty Chris Month..............Bomar Pia Zadora.................Girmar Leila Martin...............Momar |
Soundtrack "Hooray for Santy Claus", complete with a sing-a-long text at the end of the movie. Although Pia Zadora mentioned once that she sung this song (Spin, Aug '85), I've never seen her credited for this. |
Movie stills |
Bomar (left) and Girmar (right, Pia Zadora) are two Martian kids who watch way too much TV |
Our little Pia tries to chase the vilains by spraying water on them. |
All's well that ends well. All together now : S-A-N-T-A-C-L-A-U-S, Hooray for Santy Claus! |
Personal Comments Never-melting snow, a man in a polar bear suit, a cardboard robot, a green Pia Zadora, an empty box as a rocket engine, a doll with a teddybears' head, foodpills, and -let's save the best for last- a song that will drive even Santa up the wall. And still, I prefer to watch this bad movie fest than the usual Christmas crap. Pia Zadora plays a little Martian Girl (Girmar, get it?), a quite neglectable part, but her name is widely used to sell this movie. |
"Santa Claus Conquers The Martians!? Hey, that's the least of my problems!" Pia Zadora, asked how her kids react to seeing their mom portray a little green space-cadet (Phoenix New Times, 1990) |
