The Piarist School is a small, tuition-free, private Catholic college-preparatory high school in Martin, Floyd County, Kentucky. The school is open to students of all faiths and serves students in Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin and Pike Counties.
The next entrance exam is on Wednesday, June 10, at 9 o'clock. The exam is open to both those entering high school and those students entering middle school. For more information call the office, (606) 285-3950.
The Piarist School will hold its 16th commencement exercises on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at eleven o'clock in the morning. The ceremony for the graduates will be held on the patio at the Jenny Wiley Lodge in Prestonsburg. Mrs. Duna Combs, The Piarist School Art teacher, will be the graduation speaker. Elizabeth M. Davis and Taylor D. Moak will share valedictory honors. The class consists of seven graduates, two of which are completing a senior-year abroad program in Beijing, China.
The Drama Class (Juniors) will will be presenting a Spring play entitled "Mythical Mayhem" on Monday, May 18 at 6 pm in the school gymnasium. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
When presented with the idea of performing a Spring play, the Junior class led by student Amber Wireman of Salyersville, took it upon themselves to write an original script. The plot of the play has been described by the juniors as a comedy in which "Ima and Ialby go on a search for the truth behind their favorite book."
The Piarist School volleyball team is proud to announce its 2009 volleyball schedule. Last year the team was very successful winning runner-up honors in the Three-Rivers volleyball tournament and in their district. Dig 'Em!
