Born into a musical family, John began his studies at the piano at age 6.  Since then, he has won many awards at both the regional and national level, and was the second prize winner of his age division at the Canadian music Competitions in 1995.  In 1997, John even had the opportunity to participate in the Hong Kong International Competition which marked the historic hand-over of Hong Kong from British rule.

John has played in masterclasses for Kendal Taylor, Angela Hewitt, Jamie Parker, and John Perry.  He has participated in many chamber music festivals, and recently performed with the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra.

Over the past two years, John has attended the Britten-Pears School of Music in England where he and his sister Sherry (soprano) took part in extensive workshops on Lieder under the direction of such artists as Martin Isep, Mary Morrison, and Roger Vignoles.

Currently, John is a student at the Glenn Gould Professional School (affiliate of the Royal Conservatory of Music) in Toronto, under the tutelage of James Anagnoson.
