| PIANO BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM You can purchase piano books at two local stores or if you have time, you can order them online. The two local piano stores are: Keyboard Connection 9912 San Jose Blvd. #880-0002 VISIT THEIR WEBSITE HERE They are located on San Jose Blvd, north ofTarget on the same side of the road. There is a driveway between Wendys and Goodyear Tire. This store has the widest selection of books and sheet music in the area. This is a good store if you wish to browse music. Music and Arts Center 10991-51 San Jose Blvd. #292-9705 VISIT THEIR WEBSITE HERE They are located on San Jose in the out parcel by Wal Mart. (It was Barbeques Galore) This store has a smaller collection of books, but usually carries the basics. I recommend that you call the stores before you drive there and check to see if the book is in stock. They will order books for you if they are out of stock. Websites I commonly use to order piano books are : www.sheetmusicplus.com a great resource to order piano books. Sometimes you can click on the book and it will show you the first page. www.musicnotes.com instant downloads of sheet music in many different styles. It also shows you the first page of any music. Some of my favorite books are: Lesson series: Alfreds Premier Piano Course This has 3 books in a set, 2 books come with CDs. This teaches you note names, with less emphasis on finger numbers. They have levels 1A,1B, 2A, and 2B. Supplemental books: Faber and Faber Series Leveled 1 (Playtime Piano) through Level 4 (BigTime Piano) I especially like the Hymns, Jazz and Rags, and Favorites. Another favorite is the series by Carol Matz, they are Familiar Favorites, Famous and Fun Pop, and a nice Classical Themes. These are leveled 1 through 4. Finally, for the more advanced student Phillip Kevrens Series . These are graded Beginning Piano Solos through Piano Solo. Finger exercise books: Dozen a Day with the accompaniment CD or MIDI is a great choice. They are leveled from Mini Book (pink cover) upward. Just a word about piano books. Most books are going to say EasyPiano on them. There is no standard set by anyone for easy. Always open the book and look to see if you can play it! BACK TO HOME PAGE |
