Welcome to the home page for our PI 100 MHW2 class project. Take a look at What's New in our web. ABSTRACT In
terms of the framework for organizing social theory provided by Roberto
Mangabeira Unger (1979), Rizal's theory of society is compared and
contrasted with the theory of Marx and to some extent to the ideas of social
theorists like Durkheim, Weber and Parsons.
The
materials reviewed for this project are E. San Juan Jr.'s "Rizal
and the Human Condition" (1968), "Rizal
for our Time" (1997) and "Dialektika
at Materyalismong Pangkasaysayan sa Diskurso ni Jose Rizal" (2004).
Evident in the articles is San Juan's effort to trace the dialectical elements
in Rizal's way of thinking, leading him to present Rizal's coherent
"theory of society". Using his theoretical discussions from these materials,
we are able to outline the "theory of society" that he is trying to
demonstrate.
