aneroid barometer (aneroid - without liquid) The aneroid barometer is an instrument for measuring atmospheric pressure. It consists of an evacuated metal box with a thin corrugated metal lid. Variation in the atmospheric pressure causes displacement of the lid. This displacement is magnified, by using delicate levers. A pointer moving over scale gives the pressure.
