Extracts
Hello, viewers! I’m TV’s not-famous Matthew Smith, and I’ll be your guide as we amble merrily through this brief (but potentially diverting) collection of extracts from Close En-Cow-Ters, the story that I had a hand in creating for the Fan-Powered Issue of Bubba the Redneck Werewolf. Join me, won’t you?

This excerpt comes from quite early on in the story, and features Angus and Sharlay – the evil mutant alien cow people intent on ruling the Earth – in triumphant mood. Why are they feeling so terribly triumphant? You’ll have to seek out the comic for the answer.

Next, we have the moment when Bubba and Bobbi-Jo first meet up with the alien visitors. Or, more correctly, the moment when they first meet up with the ground at high velocity and, in Bubba’s case, somewhat uncomfortably.

Bubba looking even more annoyed than usual, and only partly as a result of being smashed face-first into a knobbly field. This particular frame took an unexpectedly long time to get right; when viewed from head-on, the difference between a ferocious snarl and a fierce grin can be surprisingly small in characters with long muzzles.

And finally, Bubba and Angus launch into a heartfelt exchange of opinions regarding that whole conquering-the-planet thing. Who needs Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, eh?
Well, that’s about it for now on the extract front. But before we move on to sketches, I believe a rousing round of applause is in order for Sir Larry Williams and his fantastically great Silver-Age-of-Comics-style script. (The knighthood still hasn’t come through yet, actually, but the Queen’s always terribly busy with those hopeless children of hers, so I’m sure she won’t mind us using the title in the meantime.) Top work, that man!
