The Five Criteria Used to Grade Mini-papers:
- Was the paper turned in on time? Some points were lost if turned in after
the due date. I waived the “20% off
if late” rule, but I took off 2 points from here for every class session
it was late. (10 points max.)
- Clarity.
Is the paper easy to follow?
Is the format of the paper pleasing to the reader? Does the author of the paper jump from
one idea to the next in a clear and orderly fashion? (10 points max.)
- Content.
Is the paper actually about the topic? Is the information presented pertinent
to the paper, or is it unrelated?
Are the conclusions made by the author just a recapitulation of the
paper, or does he/she have something important to say—an evaluation--about
the presented information? (10 points
max.)
- Syntax.
Is the grammar and punctuation of the mini-paper correct and up to
college standards? (10 points max.)
- Bibliography.
Are the sources cited clearly and referenced in the
bibliography? Are the sources
clearly cited in the body of the paper?
Are there the proper number of texts, periodicals and websites
cited as stated in the course syllabus?
(10 points max.)
