| Duan Huang, M.D., Ph.D., received his M.D. degree in Shanghai, China, and a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Huang studied Medical Acupuncture for Physicians at UCLA, as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine during his medical school in China. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a certified physician acupuncturist. Dr. Huang keeps very close contact with colleagues in Shanghai Acupuncture Academy. Combining acupuncture with western medicine simply provides more therapeutic options to benefit more patients. Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient.
