Auralis, Half-Elf Mage

My coming to Windy Bluff was just another turn in the wheel of life...but let me start at the beginning. At least the beginning I know...

I dont remember from whence I came, I just was.  I spent my early childhood in a far away forest, that to me, had no name, it was just my complete world.  I lived with my grandmother, for my parents had been taken during a time a great turmoil, a time, my grandmother told me, when there was a great war between races. You see my father was human, my mother an elven woman.  My grandmother said they fled the fighting, but alas, they were found and slaughtered.  Mixing of the races was not tolerated then.   So I, the orphan, spent my hours at my grandmothers knee, in a small cottage in a place where all you could see was the trees.

We didnt have any close neighbors but my grandmother would get visitors...at first, when I was but a child my grandmother would send me off on some errand whenever a visitor came, to pick berries or wild herbs growing on the garden floor, but my curiosity got the better of me and when I was of 1o turns of the seasons, I would sneek up the back way and peer through the cottage window.   What I saw facinated me.  Visitors would come and my grandmother would take things out of the cabinet, light a candle, speak a few words, mix some things in a bowl, and with whatever she had made, would give to these strangers.  Some had faces full of worry but would brighten when they received their parcels, some were hidden under the hoods of their cloaks and greedily snatched what she had prepared.  I didnt know it then, but my grandmother would be what you call a wise woman, a healer.

When I was 12 a visitor came, a scared young girl, appearing at our doorstep.  I was surprised, for my grandmother had a way of knowing when a visitor was coming and always sent me away.  But this day was different, this day she let me stay to watch as she prepared a poultice for a young bride who had been unable to bear a child.  From that point on my grandmother showed me many things, how to make simple drinks to settle a sick stomach, how to pick the right herbs to mend a scraped knee.  I loved the life I had then, but I had a deep desire for more... I felt within me that there must be a power stronger than just simple potions and herbal remedies...and I wanted that knowledge.

When I was just past 16 seasons I set out to find that knowledge.  I have travelled far, through many lands, eventually coming to Windy Bluff.   The town was much larger than my forest world, so full of life and a large arrangement of beings.  My eyes had not seen the likes of Trolls, gnomes and even minotaurs!   I found my way through this strange town and to my destiny... I have found a place to learn the knowledge I desire, a Mage guild.  As soon as I could I began my lessons.  It is hard work, and I struggle everyday to excel.  I was also fortunate to find the Guardian Clan, a togetherness, a family.  They are friends to those new to the land, who wish a helping hand along the way.  I have not been with the clan long so my story stops here...for now,
but rest assured, I will have more to say, you will remember my name.
