Christmas in Malaysia?

In Malaysia, or rather, the capital - Kuala Lumpur, Christmas is a silent affair. Shoppers go dutifully to department stores that blast repetitive Christmas Carols while there's an occasional tiny performance or two in the mall/civic centre. On the streets, it is silent, people go about their business, and Christmas usually surprises them by coming too early. On TV, the ads are the same, no Christmas wishes except for the very few. But perhaps what is universal and unchanged about Christmas is what happens in families. Outside, it may seem overly quiet, but among family members, the event is often awaited with much pleasure and dread - depends on whether you're the receiver or the buyer of the presents. But Christmas, like those around the world suceeds in bringing together family and friends in one night of joy . That's Christmas in Malaysia.

 Dear People,

Well, browsing through the net for something useful is difficult, but I've come up with something, I think. Well, if you're lazy to sell snailmail cards to people, try the virtualflorist or E! Online Christmas cards which are really cool, try that out too. And, although it may be slightly late, there's Lego's Christmas calendar to clock your days to Christmas.

Find out how people around the world celebrate Christmas in this great site: Christmas around the world. Or if you would like to find out the true meaning of Christmas, zap yourself to a geocities site now.

Well, there's something great for the kids too. Send a letter to Santa and he'll reply.

Want some recepi's? There's one for vegetarians, and another for omnivours.

Next: Spice up your greeting cards, electronic or snailmail with these quotes/poems:

"It was not after we are reconciled by the blood of his Son that God began to love us, but before the foundation of the world" John Calvin

"I am convinced the greatest act of love we can ever perform for people is to tell them about God's love for them in Christ" Billy Graham

"Beauty is God's handwriting. Welcome it in every fair face, every fair day, every fair flower." Charles Kingsley

"I would rather make mistakes in kindness and compassion that work miracles in unkindness and hardness." Mother Theresa of Calcutta

For the beauty of the earth / For the splendour of the skies / For the love which from our birth / Over and around us lies / Father, unto thee we raise / This our sacrifice of praise /

For the joy of human love / Brother, sister, parent, child / Friends on earth, and friends above / For all gentle thoughts and mild / Father unto Thee we raise / This our sacrifice of praise

F.S Pierpoint

When things get tough, it helps to think of Christ by your side. David Livingstone, the great explorer of Southern Africa who was born this day 1813, often said that the key to his life was the verse, "I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Earth's crammed with heaven / and every common bush afire with God. / And only he who sees / takes off his shoes. / The rest sit around and pluck blackberries. Elizabeth Barrett Browning

"The vocation of every man and woman is to serve other people" Leo Tolstoy

"Sow an act, / and you reap a habit / Sow a habit, / and you reap a character. / Sow a character, / and you reap a destiny." Charles Read

"While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."Luke 2:6
