Phoenixville Area GPO Meeting

Welcome & Introduction:

Meeting Began At 7:00 PM

 

Murdina opened the meeting by introducing the coaches and board members and then reviewed the coaches’ roles and responsibilities.

 

Forms distributed:

·            Agenda

·            Directions

·            Emergency Contact/Consent Form:  To be signed and returned within one week.

·            Schedule

·            Gymnastics Team Handbook

·            Contract:  To be signed and returned within one week.

 

Levels & Schedule:

·            If there are any questions regarding which groups children are in or any other issues, talk to Murdina.  Communication is important for everything to run smoothly and prevents any misunderstandings.

·            Meets:  The Meet Schedule is tentative pending the league meeting.

 

Payments:

Full membership at YMCA required; either family or individual.  Late payments put the child’s eligibility at risk, so pay fees promptly by the 15^th of each month.

 

Phone List/Email:  The phone list and meeting minutes will be distributed in hardcopy and via email.  New 2004/2005 phone list to be distributed within one week.  Contact Murdina with any changes.  Phone numbers should not be distributed outside of the team.

 

Handbook:

The Gymnastics Team Handbook was reviewed section-by-section. All parents should read the entire handbook. Key Points:

·            Assessment:  There is a fundraising assessment of $150 for each gymnast due by 2/15/05.  Additional funds will be required if actual costs exceed projected costs.

·            Cancellations: The gym will be closed for inclement weather following the Phoenixville school district’s closure policy (#856 is the snow number).  On snow days for meets, there is a team parent who will call.

Level 4 – VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Level 5 – Eileen Csongradi

Level 6 – Jane Jacobsen

Level 7 – Charlene Jones

Level 8 – Leslie Soster

Level 9 – Lisa Wohlegemuth

·            Equipment:  Planned equipment purchases reviewed.  Greg Cordes to check into insurance for possible rental of tumbling strip from Hatboro.

·            Communication:  See coaches with any questions, but not during practice.  Email checked daily.  Murdina and Brooke are available by phone.

 

Attendance:

·            Murdina or Brooke must be contacted if a gymnast will miss a scheduled practice – no exceptions.

 

Leotards:

·            Level 5-9 Gymnasts will be required to purchase new long-sleeve leotards and tanks.

·            Level 4 Gymnasts are only required to purchase a new tank leotard this year.

·            Leotards are being evaluated now.  Brooke will try to obtain samples for fitting if possible.

·            The warm-ups will be the same as last year.  Warm-ups will only need to be purchased if new size needed – new warm-up pants can be ordered.

·            Brooke and Murdina will provide information on a leotard swap in the future.

-        YMCA Scholarship – Ideas wanted.  Cartwheel-a-thon has been done in the past.

-        New this year will be a Holiday Exhibition Nov/Dec timeframe.  Similar to Vanguard Exhibition.  May require Saturday afternoon practice.

 

Relay for Life:

Brooke discussed the Relay for Life.  It will not be possible to devote the same amount of time that was spent last year, however individual teams may participate and a group campsite can be coordinated again.

 

GPO Meetings:

Meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM.
