Went to Prague in 1993, when Czech just separated from Slovakia (previously known as Czechoslovakia). Inflation rate was fast and high and things although cheap, prices are changing by the day.
Went to Prague again in 2000. The cost of living, over 7 years later, is now the same as S'pore, at least for the expenses I am exposed to, like food in the restaurants, hotel accomodation and souvenirs that lined the streets.
It is February, and at times, it was snowing heavily. We took the buses around town, dress up to attend a ballet concert, dine in restuarants in the basement, try the local dishes. There is this mini doughnut stall that we visit almost everyday. The sunset was very nice too. As my colleagues walk very fast, I used to pant and puff after them. Sighhhh..... |
