| Meet Phyllis Celena Gay |
| Hey Everyone. I'm Phyllis Celena Gay and I was born and raised right here in Price Edward Island, Canada. I'm 25 and I've been interested in art for as long as I can remember. I even still have a drawing that I did when I was 4 years old and I told my mother that it was an owl and a ghost. So she wrote on the back what it was. It amazes me when I look at it even today how much it does look like an owl and a ghost. I mean for a 4 year old drawing. So you see even from a young age I knew there was really nothing else I really wanted to do in this life time. I've gone so far as to refuse to go to a certain high school because they didn't offer an Art course. I opted to be bused an hour drive to one that did. So for grade 10 I attended Blue Field High School and then moved to Summerside for grades 11 and 12 where I attended Three Oaks Senior High. Then I proceeded to drawing during classes that weren't art class, draw in the hall ways... on the bus anywheres I could. I thought I was getting a way with draing in class too until the end of one class when the teacher asked me what I drew that day. LOL. All that was worth it because I graduated in 2000 with highest outstanding in Art. Over the next couple of years I took a couple leisure art courses with Maurice Bernard of Summerside. As well as a course through the mail with ICS (later renamed Education Direct.). Then for one reason or another I took a little break from my art. Don't ask me why I don't know. Then in 2006 I worked on alot of "Tole" painting type crafts for the craft fair at the silver fox. Although I didn't sell much I enjoyed the experience. Had a lot of wonderful comments and completed a pastel painting. Now I think my artist block is over and I'm back full blast I've done six peices in the last couple of months alone, and I don't plan on stopping again any time soon. I recently got married. So now I reside in Summerside with my wonderful husband and our 5 fur kids. Chaos, Doobie, Mokey, Radar, and Storm |
